  1. 判断 be, have, do 是助动词还是实义/系动词。

She must have left already

  • They review the report.
  • They are reviewing the report. 进行
  • They have reviewed the report. 完成
  • The report was reviewed. 被动
  • They may review the report. 可能
  • They do not review every report.

情态动词 → 完成 have → 进行 be → 被动 be → 主要动词

例子:

The application may have been rejected.

  • may:可能
  • be + rejected:被动

The system may have been being tested.

3. 基本助动词 be, have, do

3.1 be

They are checking the figures.

The figures were checked twice.

The figures are accurate.

3.2 have

They have checked the figures.

They have enough evidence.

3.3 do 与 do-support

  • They do not agree.
  • Does she agree?
  • I did check the address.

Does she agrees?
Does she agree?

  • Is she working?
  • Has she finished?
  • Can she attend?

can, could, may, might, must, shall, should, will, would

  2. 第三人称单数不加 -s:she may leave。
  3. 否定直接加 not:may not leave。
May she leave?

5. can / could / be able to

能力

  • She can speak three languages.
  • She could read at the age of four.

过去某次具体成功常用 was/were able to 或 managed to:

Despite the noise, she was able to finish the task.

  • Can I use this chair?
  • Could you open the window?

  • Mistakes can happen.
  • That can't be correct.

You could have called me.

6. may / might

可能性

  • The meeting may be delayed.
  • The meeting might be delayed.

You may leave now.

She may/might have missed the train.

may not 有两种可能:

She may not know the answer.
Visitors may not enter this area.

7. must / have to / need to

You must submit the form today.

  • I have to leave.
  • I had to leave early yesterday.
  • I will have to leave soon.

  • You must not enter. =
  • You do not have to enter. =
  • You need not enter. =

She must be at work.

She must have left already.

She can't have left; her coat is still here.

8. should / ought to / had better

  • You should check the figures again.
  • You ought to check the figures again.

The train should arrive by six.

  • You should have checked the address.
  • You should not have shared the file.

You had better leave now.

否定为 had better not。

9. will / would / shall

will

The plan will take two weeks.
I will help you.
Accidents will happen.

would

She said she would call.
I would help if I had time.
Would you close the door?
Every summer, we would visit our grandparents.

shall

Shall we begin?

  • Need we wait?
  • You needn't worry.
  • Dare he disagree?

  • Do we need to wait?
  • You don't need to worry.
  • He doesn't dare to disagree.

    • I used to work at night.
  • be used to + 名词/doing:习惯于。
    • I am used to working at night.
  • be used to + 动词原形:被用来做。
    • This tool is used to measure distance.

be able to能够She will be able to attend.
be going to计划/有迹象的预测It is going to rain.
be about to即将,通常不再接具体将来时间The class is about to begin.
be to正式安排、命令The guests are to arrive at noon.
have got to必须,较口语I have got to leave.

must have done推断过去一定发生
may/might have done过去可能发生
can't/couldn't have done推断过去不可能发生
should have done本应该做但没做
would have done在某条件下本会发生

The figures could not have been checked carefully.

  3. have + been:完成,指向此前。
  5. carefully:

  1. She can speaks English. → She can speak English.
  2. He doesn't can attend. → He cannot attend.
  3. You mustn't come if you are busy. You don't have to come ...
  4. She mustn't be at home. She can't be at home.
  5. I am used to work late. → I am used to working late.
  6. You should checked it. → You should check it.;谈过去遗憾则 should have checked。

  • be/have/do 的身份由句中功能决定。
  • mustn't 表禁止,don't have to/needn't 表不必。
  • used to do、be used to doing、be used to do 必须区分。

18. 自检题

题目

  1. 判断 be 的身份:She is working 与 She is confident。
  2. 改错:Does he knows the answer?
The application may have been rejected.
  4. 选择:You mustn't / don't have to attend; the session is optional.
  5. 选择:She mustn't / can't be the author; she was abroad then.
  6. 填空:You ___ (should/check) the address before you left.(过去没检查)
  7. 解释:Could you help me?
  8. 改错:I am used to get up early.
  9. 区分:The device is used to measure temperature 与 I used to measure temperature by hand。
  10. 填空:She said she ___ call later. (will / would)
  2. Does he know the answer? does
  3. may 表情态;have + been 表完成;be + rejected 表被动;核心意义是“申请被拒”。
  4. don't have to。
  5. can't。
  6. should have checked。
  8. I am used to getting up early.
  10. would。
  11. 示例:She may have taken the earlier train.
  12. You don't need to wait.
